John Cooper is a
person-centred
counsellor and an accredited member of the British Association of
Counselling Practitioners (BACP). He is also a member of the British
Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy (BASRT).
He works with clients of all ages
who have sought counselling for various reasons including depression,
anxiety and stress. He also specialises in the field of psychosexual
therapy (see below) and welcomes enquiries from both individuals and
couples. John offers clients both long and short-term therapy,
according to their needs.
Amongst
John's training, he has
completed an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a two year
Diploma in Psychosexual and Couple Therapy at Regents College in
London. He is currently working with clients with psychosexual issues
in an NHS setting alongside his private practice, as well as voluntary
work in the LGBT community. He also provides short-term therapy to EAP
(Employee Assistance Programme) clients.
His
experience gained previously as a
teacher informs his work as a counsellor. He has worked in a number of
counselling settings with young people, including schools and centres
for young people, and is trained to use play, art and drama therapy
with both younger children, young people and adults. John has also
worked with children and young people who have been victims of domestic
violence.
John
adheres to the BACP code of ethics and attends regular supervision. He
also has full liability insurance and up-to-date CRB clearance. He is
committed to ongoing training to further his professional development,
and has recently completed courses in anger management, mindfulness,
BDSM and developing emotional resilience. His professional membership
